It has been 4 years since Shane Cross passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident in Australia. In June 2006 I got a chance to travel across Canada with Shane for 10 days. He didn’t have much experience skating demos in front of a large crowd of fans.
Before the first demo, Shane was standing in the back corner of the skatepark and he was nervous to get out there and skate. We talked for a while and I told him to forget about everyone watching and just skate and have a good time. The entire Flip team started skating the demo, Shane landed a bunch of amazing tricks, and while the demo progressed his face lit up with joy . At each demo Shane got more confident and he loved every moment of it.
Today is a sad day and my thoughts are with the Cross family. Ride On Shane, your smile and positive vibes will always be missed.
